SIXTY-SIX Brunei nationals, who were stranded in Bangkok, Thailand, arrived home last evening on a Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA) relief flight, which took off from U-Tapao Airport in Pattaya, Thailand.
Royal Brunei Airlines flew an A319 aircraft to U-Tapao Airport, 150km southeast of Bangkok, yesterday to bring home the stranded passengers.
Flight BI5516 arrived last evening at around 7.30pm as family and friends of the stranded passengers eagerly awaited their return.
In an interview with the Bulletin, one of the passengers, Hj Abd Rahman bin Hj Sirat, who was vacationing with his wife and two children since last Tuesday, said that he is extremely happy and thankful to RBA for all the assistance they have rendered during his stay there.
“When I found out that the airport was closed I was shocked and worried and I immediately contacted the RBA office in Bangkok to find out about how my family and I could make arrangements in getting home.
“We were supposed to come back on Saturday. RBA reconfirmed our flight twice while we were there on the rescue flight that was scheduled today.
